Policies and Procedures

Appointments

Please be sure that your pet is 'empty' before entering the salon. This makes your pet more comfortable during their grooming and eliminates the possibility of needing a second bath. We do charge a $5.00 fee per incident while your pet is in our salon and/or our care.

For the safety of your pet, our staff, and other clients, please have your pet leashed at all times, even if you are carrying them.  This lessens the chance of bites, dog fights, and the possibility of escape if another client enters the door unexpectedly.

Every animal left in Doggie Depot's care MUST have a current Rabies vaccination.  Not only is this RI law, but it is a common courtesy to our staff and other pets in our care.  If your pet is found to be out of date on vaccines we will ask you to leave and return when they are current.

Please let us know all health or behavioral problems that your pet has.  If your pet has a history of 'difficult' behavior, please let us know.  This does not mean that they will be difficult with us, but it gives us the opportunity to be even more cautious until your pet gets to know us.

If you cannot keep your appointment we require at least 24 hours notice so that we may fill your spot.  Failure to cancel or reschedule 24 hours in advance will result in a charge of $20.00 that must be paid prior to your next appointment.

Pets should be picked up as soon as they are ready, especially those that are elderly or have health problems.  If a pet soils themselves after we have contacted you, you will be responsible for the cost of a second bath.

ONLY staff is allowed in our workspace.  This is for the safety of the pets in our care, our staff, and you.

Although sometimes we can fit in walk-ins, it is best to make an appointment.  Of course, if an emergency arises, we will always do our best to fit you in.

Grooming

Our first priority is the safety and comfort of your pet.  We will attempt to demat moderately matted dogs, but it is not always possible to demat a pet that has not been properly maintained.  Unfortunately, shaving or shortening the pet's coat is the only option in many cases.  Please keep in mind that it is only fur and it will grow back, at which point we can discuss a maintenance program for you and your pet.

If your pet has fleas they will be treated automatically and you will be charged accordingly.  We do not skip treatments, even at your request because this allows the fleas an opportunity to leave your pet, get into our salon, and onto other client's pets.  We highly recommend that you treat your home, yard, and vehicles while your pet is being treated at our salon.

If your veterinarian prescribes a medicated or special shampoo for your pet we will be happy to use it; just bring it in and we will put their name on it.

We do not routinely muzzle pets in our care, but it is sometimes necessary. Please understand that we take every possible step to avoid this, but with some pets it is safer for them and our groomers to use a muzzle.

Pets do not come into contact with other pets in our care.  This is for sanitary and cautious purposes, not because we think that pets can't interact with one another.
